SELF-STUDY at ELI |
When learning English there's a simple rule: the more
you do the faster you'll improve. To make the most of your
course you must be prepared to find additional time outside
your lessons for self-study. Here are some suggestions for
self-study:
- Borrow materials (from
the ELI staffroom and from the library).
You can borrow a wide range of materials from the staffroom
to help with all aspects of your English, in particular with
listening, pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar. The library
has supplementary resources, especially a good range of graded, simplified
readers.
- Use the Internet
There are many useful websites for improving your English.
- Explore bookshops
The on-site bookshop in the reception area has grammar books and dictionaries
for sale (in addition to coursebooks). You could also visit specialist English
bookshops such as KELTIC or specialist departments such as FOYLES at 113
- 119 Charing Cross Road (nearest underground station: Tottenham Court Road).
- Make a study plan
You can find regular slots for your self-study and still do plenty of sight-seeing!
